EEC Upskills Major Korean Power Company (KEWP) in Renewable Energy

The European Energy Centre (EEC) has been delighted to welcome the Korea East-West Power Company (KEWP) to London for a five-day Bespoke Course on Renewable Energy.

The EEC was chosen by KEWP, in its capacity of being an Accredited Training Centre which works closely with United Nations Environment (UNE) to promote best practice in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency. South Korea has recently developed a plan to increase the country’s use of sustainable energy, aiming for it to make up 40% of the nation’s total energy supply by 2040. This means transforming a great deal of the country’s power production, which at this stage predominantly consists of coal and nuclear power.

Introducing substantial changes to a country’s energy policy requires that all parts involved play their role in adapting their businesses to new procedures and technology. Therefore, the EEC is pleased to see that Korea East-West Power Company is taking steps towards exploring sustainable energy alternatives and building up green infrastructure. By approaching the EEC, KEWP has ensured that they receive training developed by top experts in the renewable energy field. The EEC’s bespoke courses are tailored to optimise the needs of the individual organisation, by providing hands-on theoretical and practical knowledge.

“This is an exciting new era in South Korea’s energy development and the European Energy Centre is very honoured to be a part of it. Working towards a future where sustainable energy is at the top of the agenda, is in all our best interests.”

Director, European Energy Centre (EEC), Paolo Buoni

The five-day course for KEWP in London focussed on three main areas within the field of renewable energy: Solar Photovoltaics, Wind Power, and Energy Efficiency in Buildings. One of the EEC’s esteemed researchers delivered the training in the most advanced technology in solar and wind power, including topics such as cost calculations, installation and maintenance. The Energy Efficiency in Buildings sessions covered the design and construction of buildings, as well as information about the latest energy modelling software. Participants from KEWP expressed that they found the speaker extremely knowledgeable, and that the insight into the UK’s policies surrounding renewable energies was especially valuable.

What is the next step for your company to take to improve your environmental work? Get in touch with the EEC to discuss relevant training that will take your company to the next level of green energy efficiency. With more than 30 years of experience, the EEC has had the pleasure of helping many international companies upgrade their knowledge and practices in renewable energy through Bespoke Courses. Once trained by the EEC, companies can display the approved EEC logo which serves as a quality stamp of the company’s involvement in working towards a more sustainable future.

The European Energy Centre offers a range of courses on sustainable energy that are open to anyone who wants to learn about the subject. The EEC’s upcoming course on Renewable Energy Management and Finance gives comprehensive training on financing all types of renewable energy projects, both in the UK and internationally.
