The EEC Accredited Center is pleased to focus on the achievements of those who have attended EEC’s leading Renewable Energy courses and accomplished the internationally recognized Galileo Master Certificate to further their careers in the Green Energy sector.
The EEC this month is delighted to speak with energy provider Direct Energy’s Angela Schorr, who attended the Electric Vehicles course in New York City. Angela joined the EEC’s network of course participants from over 150 countries worldwide, including delegates from Google, Nissan and the United Nations (UNEP).
1. Hi Angela, what is your professional background and how does this relate to the Renewable Energy field?
I have over twenty-five years of experience in the energy industry which includes working for regulated and non-regulated energy companies in various departments (gas accounting, nominations and trading, electric bidding and scheduling, quality assurance and regulatory.) I currently work for Direct Energy, in the Government and Regulatory Affairs team, where I actively participate in rulemaking proceedings, utility rate cases, collaborative meetings, matters related to Reforming the Energy Vision , and any other Government or Regulatory item that is deemed important to the company. My role also supports Direct Energy’s affiliate companies that focus on Renewable Energy, larger scale projects, and business solutions for customers.
2. Why did you choose to train with the EEC Accredited Center in New York City and take the exam for the internationally recognized Galileo Master Certificate?
I wanted a course which covered all of the topics perfect for my needs. The EEC Accredited Center was the only organization that offered a course solely on EVs, and it exceeded my expectations.
3. What are the skills that you gained on the course with the EEC Accredited Center?
The EEC’s Electric Vehicles course was extremely informative. I learned not only the basics about how EVs work, but also the economics behind them. The instructor passed along so much useful information including a slide deck that covered all facets of the Electric Vehicles industry We learned details about what was happening in different states around the country, and what each of the car manufacturers were planning for the upcoming years. We also learned a great deal about charging stations and the future of the industry .
4. How will you apply these skills to your career, either directly or indirectly?
EVs is just one way to lower emissions and protect our climate. My company is interested in Electric Vehicles, Energy Storage, and other ways in which to reduce the carbon footprint. The EEC Accredited Center’s Electric Vehicles course provided me skills that can help develop solutions for our company to move forward in this ever-changing industry.
